I'm more of a straight-edges kind of girl. But polka dots? That's a different story...I love them. I thrifted these dotty tumblers last week and they add instant happiness wherever I set them down.
So...my question...
Yesterday I had the calling to cut and paste and turned that energy into two new train cases. These are the last of my stash and that's OK with me. I've been feeling the pull of a different crafty direction and clearing out the old makes room for new ideas...whatever that might be.
I am a creator; my inspiration comes from things I have in front of me and I always start a project by gathering a pile of supplies. Everything comes from that pile and the final design is always a surprise to me. I love that process.
Occasionally, I am a producer. I make 'more' versions of an original idea. I don't love that process...at least not for very long. This makes for bad business and disappointed friends (ack...so sorry...I haven't felt like making "insert item here"...guilty feeling).
Are you a creator that sometimes becomes a producer? Are you good at it or do you struggle? Do you move on to the next thing without looking back or...not?
Such an interesting post ... I feel like a "supply seller" more than anything these days, but when I've got the time, I create. I like to figure out how something is made, once, and then I'm usually done.

I'm definitely a creator....only occasionally a producer. Lately I'm hooked on baby sweaters, and one pattern in particular. I've made two with plans for a third, but after that something new. Like you, I've begun to weed out stuff I don't have an interest in anymore....I tell myself to donate it so someone else can enjoy it. It's working :)

I am definitely more of a creator than a producer. I often have good intensions on replicate things but I lose interest and move on to the next beautiful thing.

Yes!...donating back to the same thrift store where I got most of my stuff makes me happy...the circle of craftiness!

Thanks Barbara...makes me so happy that you "get" what I'm trying to ask. I saw what I think was feed sack fabric and my thrift store the other day. I didn't buy it (foolishly waited for half-off day and it was gone) but recognize it now from reading your blog...a constant source of crafty knowledge :-)

when i find something that i like to make, i want to make one million of them. after that i hate making the thing so much that i never want to make it again. so i understand about the "disappointed friends" when i just can't bear the thought of making one more hat, pillow, pair of gloves...all long lost obsessions.....love your blog!
