On to the next page of apron-ology...and the promised giveaway of my extra copy...
I thirfted two colorful panel prints and turned one of them into a craft apron, saving the other for an apron for myself. When I gathered the supplies for the second version, I grabbed two items I saved from Anthropolgie. One was the "So..." gift card holder I received in the mail on my birthday and the other was the swoon-worthy button ribbon the store gave away as packaging. I know now that I'm not the only one that flips out about the packaging from Anthropologie...right?
They were a perfect match for the apron...the right color and the right crafty/sewing vibe. I wasn't sure how I'd use the button ribbon but thought about it a while and (this is the cool part) I used it as the apron tie. So rather than tie the ribbon, you just button it to fit. I know I'm a dork but can't help hide my excitement about re-using something in a new way. I don't think I'd have the patience but you could make a similar button ribbon...just sew a bunch of button holes followed by a variety of buttons on a length or ribbon.
So that's my apron-ology story. There are plenty of other stories and beautiful aprons in the magazine that I'd love to share...leave a comment (before Saturday) and I'll send a copy to your front door.
Thanks everyone for the nice comments! The random number this time is 18 and that's Amy at into vintage (just discovered her recently and love her blog!)
What a fun and cheerful apron! Far too beautiful to use for crafting, because I am one messy crafter.

If I haven't posted it before...congrats on being included in the magazine, that's just awesome!
And if you're a dork then I know your in a world of good company because I also become very pleased with myself when I find a new use for something. And I know we're not the two people on the planet to do so :o)
I was flipping through the magazine at the bookstore the other day and became inspired to send in one of my own creations. Wish me luck.
And thanks for the chance to win a copy of the magazine, I haven't bought one yet.

I have that fabric! Mine was a tablecloth I picked up for 25 cents! It has since become two doorstops and several small lunchbox sized napkins. I also kept and adore the button strip from anthropologie! I wonder if I have enough of the fabric left for an apron? Lovely project and fun inspiration! Thanks!

As if I needed another reason to love Anthropologie...that button ribbon is the coolest, and I love how you incorporated it into the apron--SO clever! I can see why they chose both of your aprons to publish.
Thanks for the giveaway chance!

I saved that wrapping from Antho, too. I use it as tie back for my son's curtains. The apron is super cute...as always!!

I've never ordered from anthropologie...I have a feeling it will be the point of no return.
;-)
GREAT APRON! I love to re-use for aprons.

I am all about re-using! We can do the dorky excitment dance together because I think you button tie is great! Congratulations for being in this issue! I have been meaning to go and look for it at the store but if I could win it, that would be great...I will buy it anyway if I don't win. We do not have Anthropologie in many Canadian cities yet; it is about five hours away on the other side of Toronto.
