I didn't write down the date or anything but I'm pretty sure it has been over a year since I thrifted a vintage apron. Where have they gone? Are the thrift store people tossing them in the trash? Is it just my thrift store?
This is why I was really happy when I found a set of handmade aprons recently...not vintage but still cute (and possibly made with vintage fabric + muslin). The sea shell fabric on one of them is extra soft and summer-like so I added it to my kitchen shelf.
Now that I'm more comfortable with my sewing machine, I've started thinking more about something I'd like to try...some simple "art" aprons. I believe there is a call for submissions to the next issue of Arpon-ology (but I'm not seeing it at stampington.com) and I hope to give it a try.
We are finishing the last of our scheduled activities here and I'm looking forward to a little less driving all. around. town. I caught up on some sewing projects this weekend and saved a few vintage sheet fat quarters that I'll be giving away this week...still getting used to using my rotary cutter.
some of my fav items go in waves also,I will chat with the people stocking or the volunteers...frequently one mans treasure is another mans trash!

There is a great shop in east london that has a huge stock of vintage/second hand aprons, its amazing, I have to stop myself from going there everyweek to buy a new one!

Nice!
I'm cleaning out my sewing room (someday real soon) and have an apron or two (vintage!, of course) that might like to live in your home. I'm seriously cleaning house right now and will be getting rid of things like aprons (the explanation for this. . . I'm pregnant!)
Careful with those rotary cutters!

I've noticed this same thing! I used to find vintage aprons, pillow cases and sheets all the time and now, every time I go to this same shop, there's never any to be found. Strange?! I think someone else found out about all the *cool* stuff. :)

Same thing here. I found 3 aprons recently, but that was my first find in about a year.
I go to the 3 thrift stores in my area every week, nada.
Can't wait to see your art apron. Have you seen Donna Downey's? Beautiful. Here is a link - http://donnadowney.typepad.com/photos/projects/index.html
