I recently bought a few vintage Butterick Home Catalogs. They are 1962-63...my favorite years for sewing patterns. Most of the pages of the catalog are printed in landscape with 3 different patterns displayed across the page. The images are cute...kind of tall and narrow with the pattern information on the bottom. I have a few extra french laundry hangers and decided to make a small collage to go with them. Lots of stuff I've been making lately keeps going wrong and this one continued the trend. There was sewing (on paper) involved and it did not turn out well. At all. Anyway, the final result was to silhouette (is that a verb?) it and layer it on some pretty papers to make it an 8x10 size. Similar to the "sew wicked" tag, I added one that says "sew lovely".
While I was looking through the catalogs, a realized that the images would be perfect on some odd-sized clipboards I had. You may remember my promise to stop with the clipboards but these are a slight exception. Some of patterns listed in the catalog have a "BUTTERICK HOME CATALOG/Summer 1962" mark on them (different seasons and different years) so I gathered a few of those and added them to the 4.5x9 clipboards. They were made for each other.
I never get tired of your clipboards. Twyla

Hi! I'm here from Old Red Barn Co.
I love the dress styles of the 60's. Have you ever sewn from any of your vintage patterns?
Great blog, I'll definitely be back!
