vintage embroidery kits

Sewingapron
This 'sewing apron' is the needlework kit that was sitting next to the table runners that inspired me to sew this craft apron...the one with the tape measure sewn upside down so you can lift the bottom of your apron to measure something.   I have purchased a new sewing machine (more on that later) and have been working on a tutorial (more on that later too).   I love this kit because, as the package says, it's "ready-sewn".   All I have to do is attach the tape measure, pin cushion, and scissor loops.   And embroider the bottom...but I can do that.

Panel
Packaged with the sewing apron was this kit for a holiday panel...a 20x49 table runner. The kit is called "White Christmas" and it's a cute winter town scene complete with a snowman.  Check out the Glo-Met gold embroidery floss...which describes MYLAR as "DuPont's Reg. Trademark for its Polyester Film"...so space age.  As much as I'd like to think I will make this kit, it would be much better off at the home of someone that loves to embroider.

I have created a holiday section in my etsy shop and will add this kit today.  The holiday shop has my postcards, some cute new patchwork clipboards, and the coolest striped ribbon ever.  I may add more items as inspiration strikes but plan to close that section of my shop on December 6th.  I don't know how to describe it but holiday ideas and magazines kind of stress me out as the middle of December hits...I have learned to get rid of any holiday catalogs and put away any books or magazines because they can bring on a "Oh, I should have done that!" panic which I try to avoid.  How's that for a nutty explanation...but it can't just be me...right?

Not just you. My sister and I do the same thing, then we add it to next year's list. LOL!!!

Heh,heh, I once found an idea for a fall wreath. I bought the supplies (well I reused a straw wreath as the base) But, I never got it made that year. It got packed away until the next year, when I finally got it completed!
Blessings,
Lorilee

I am still packing away Halloween things since I started all my "ideas" too late. One of these days I'll get around to it!

the kit is very cool! and I LOVE the idea of you putting allthe magazines away...I tend to get too stressed too! I'm drooling over them all now but think I'll take your advice!

Must check out your Etsy shop!!!

I love the kits. I know what you mean about stress... I always overestimate what I have time and energy for. Christmas gives me crafting stress!

Hey Girly! I totally get what you are saying about December. I feel that too.

I can't wait to hear all about your new sewing machine. I'm sure you will do wonderful things with it.

I finally got my hands on the new Artful Blogging magazine. I'm saving it for the plane trip to Silver Omaha. This way it's like you get to go with me!

Thanks for the apron love. Jen

Boy, howdy! I also agree that too many ideas are stressful. This year I found a neat site - www.organizedchristmas.com - that has been a great resource! Lots of good (short)articles and stuff to get holiday projects done, and focus on what really matters. Fun!

Hey! I actually have the sewing apron, and for the life of me, I've never been able to figure out what the two "cords" dangling from the waistband were for. Then, I looked really closely at the photo and spied scissors. Eureka! the cords tie to the scissor handles! Oh, if I told y'all how long I've pondered those empty danglies.

I am in love with that apron! What a fabulous find. Off to check out your etsy shop!!
