spa pillows

DSCF0307

Earlier this spring, I took a yoga class and the instructor gave us lavender eye-pillows at the end of the class. I was in heaven...the pressure of the pillow and scent of lavender made my chronic sinus headache go away for at least a few minutes.  I wanted one but had no idea where you could get them (plus I couldn't help but think that the pillows would be so much cuter in a better fabric).

I found a Spa Pillow project, with easy to follow instructions, on DIY Style and decided to give it a try. This is obviously not a hard project and the only thing I really had any trouble with was finding the dried lavender. I believe I only used the f-word once or twice (and that includes the trip around town looking for lavender). The pillows would make great, simple, personal gifts (if you're the organized type that starts to think of holiday project ideas in July).

I just received a 2 lb. bag of lavender buds...if you ever need lots, San Francisco Herb Co. is a great place to buy it.

i have one and love it too.I did not make mine tho-that would be a disaster,i am no sewer sister!
yours is sweeter than sweet, nice job :)
*oh and knowing you are a fellow potty mouth like me only makes me like you more{wink}*

Hey!! I like this idea!! I might have to attempt this.

Another great place for lavender is Culinaryteas.com. Not only do they have lots of lavender but rose petals too. Not too mention some AWESOME flavored teas.

Thanks for sharing!

You can also try Etsy and eBay for dried lavender. If you ever need, say, 50 lbs of it though, email me!

If you have a health food store nearby, look in the spice and/or tea sections. I've seen sold as loose tea in a box at places like Whole Foods fairly often.

No lavender? I bought mine from a lovely vendor on Etsy!

So clever! I love them.

Hey why don't you sign up for Silver Bella this year and meet me and Cammy from Freckled Farm there. You know you want to. Jen

I agree these are great for sinus headaches and have made a number of them--for myself as well as gifts. Yours is very pretty and now I'm thinking about making another one. Thank you!

I love making those! I kind of forgot about lavender eye pillows (too many projects, too little time!) Thank you for the link!
I am so jealous of the necklace in your last post!
Oh, and just wanted to let you know that I use the darling clip board I purchased from you daily!

What a nice project and gift for giving. Please tell me where you got that pretty fabric.

Delurking to say that Winding Brook Estates is a lavendar farm in Eureka, MO. They also have a retail store in West County Mall.

great project!!
