McCall's Patterns

Dscf0144I've worked with enough sewing pattern envelopes and drawings to say that I have a definite favorite.  McCall's patterns have the cutest most vivid illustrations...the best fonts, colors, and graphics (love the spool of thread).  I also love the Park Ave. New York, NY address on the back of the envelopes.  I can just imagine the graphic designers drawing illustrations...probably really quickly, probably lots of them, probably very old school.

Most of the McCall's patterns I have are slightly wider than other patterns and I didn't think they would work on a small clipboard.  I changed my mind.  Now, these are my new favorite clipboards.

These are sooooo cool! I'm curious? What do you do with the tissue patterns? Do you ever try to sew one of these vintage beauties?

The clipboards are so cool, I love them!

These are fabulous! love the thought of designers sketching away!!

oh the little girl one with the balloons --- sew cute! lol. couldn't help the pun!

The clipboards are so much fun. They bring back great memories of my mom sewing for me.
Thanks for the trip back in time!

I just scored a 1955 McCalls counter book - WOOHOO!

They all three look great. Love 'em!

I love your clipboards! I, too, am so attracted to vintage sewing elements. Especially 60's because I rummaged through my Mom's sewing things so much as a little girl - those images bring back fond memories of sewing projects with Mom.

I remember McCall's pattern 8190! Thanks for the memories and for a wonderful blog!

how adorable!!! I love, love, love to learn how to make those. xoxo, joanna
