valentine apron giveaway

Dscf0155_edited1I really didn't have any plans for a giveaway anytime soon but when I found these cute aprons at my thrift store on Wednesday (it was half-off-day...so I bought them for $1 each) I just wanted to share.  The red gingham apron on top doesn't have a "handmade by Margie" tag but I'm pretty sure this one is from Margie because the material and stitching on the ric-rak are very similar to these.

I have to admit that giveaways kind of stress me out so I'm going to make this a short one...I'll draw a name on Monday morning so just leave a comment before then and the little red apron will be on its way.   No guidelines for the comments but if you have an idea on how to photograph aprons, I'd love to hear it.  I used to put an apron on my daughter and take a picture of her ( like this ) but after the first 2 or 3 times she decided she had enough of that.

Dscf0147_edited1If your are shopping for a special valentine, I have cute kits to make this heart...right here (shipping is free!)  Purchase the heart kit before Monday and I'll put your name in the hat for the valentine apron giveaway...twice.

Today is my son Ross's birthday and he has received the ultimate kid birthday gift...a snow day!

Have a good weekend everyone and I'll be mailing one of you an apron on Monday.

Sounds great :)

you got that precious red gingham apron for $1.00!!?? yippppeee!!
Happy Birthday to Ross:)

Love the aprons! Thank you for the giveaway.

Happy Birthday to Ross! Hope he has a wonderful day!

I've started an apron collection, and this would be a great addition! Thanks!

I don't know if it will work for photos. but my mom has her aprons and linen embroidered towels hanging on a "clothesline" in her laundry room.

Have a wonderful day.

Happy birthday, Ross!

Great aprons.

Wow, that was a true buy. Hope I get to win! :O)

Well sign me up sister! I like to photograph aprons outdoors on a makeshift clothesline using old clothespins, but the weather has to cooperate for that!

I've been wanting a good apron for a while now. I cook SO much, and an apron around the kitchen would be such a blessing!
You are so lucky to be able to get such good finds!

Like a few others have mentioned, I have used the clothesline.

I have also used a giant piece of white matboard (acquired from Hobby Lobby), laid them flat on it, and stood above them on a chair to take the picture.

What a brilliant bargain! Such pretty aprons.

Yes please to pretty vintage aprons! Loves me some blue rick rack and red gingham (sigh). Thanks, Julie. :)

The aprons remind me of those that Grandma used to wear when I was a child. They're beautiful. I'm glad I dropped by.

Blessings,
Mary

What a fabulous deal you got on the aprons! I see that everyone has already suggested what i was thinking (the clothesline idea),so maybe you could find a wire dress form on sale/clearance somewhere?

Thanks! I have really enjoyed reading your blog!Angie

My kids live for snow days. Even when they have to go out and shovel our ridiculously long driveway ( twice today, I think, it's still coming down)

I love those aprons! Especially the red one!

Oh! How delightful!! Please enter me in the giveaway; I would love to have a chance to win such a pretty apron! :)

Photographing aprons... they're rather hard to capture, aren't they? ;) I've always thought a simple string or wire stretched across a pretty-hued wall, and the apron pinned to it with some clothes pins is very attractive. :)

Oh, I love the clothesline idea. Why on earth can I not think of these simple and perfect ways to display things. Oh, well, I guess that's why I read blogs. Here I go to rig a clothesline for my aprons....

Oh, and I just wanted to let you know that you've been nominated for the "You Make My Day!" blog award! :) http://elegantmusings.wordpress.com/2008/02/01/friday-favorites-sweet-surprises/

a snow day is the perfect birthday gift!

i love the floral pattern on that apron on the left. it is beautiful.

i think you could take some fantastic self-portraits of yourself wearing aprons. just set up the timer and pose away. then you can crop them however you like...

everyone in blog land must have the best thrift stores except for me. i can't find good vintage finds anywhere. thanks for sharing your stash of great aprons!

I love aprons! I however have little ideas on how to photograph them, I ran into the same problem over Christmas break. I agree with the clothesline idea though, sunshine is the best kind of lighting there is for photography! :)

That's awesome that your son got a snow day, it snowed here yesterday but not enough for it to be fun :(

Oh, I hope I win one. I don't have a nice little apron. I keep saying I will make myself one but have not made one yet.

I love the red Chicken Scratch apron your are giving away. What a nice color gingham, just in time for Valentine's Day.

No advice on photographing aprons. My boys have never been very cooperative about modeling them, lol.

Hi, I'd like to win an apron. I think they're a blast. You could put the apron on and have your daughter take the picture. :)
