it's sew time
I don't watch much TV. Not for intellectual reasons or anything...I just don't have much time during the week. Luckily, my TIVO has a few shows waiting for me and when I get a chance, one of my favorites is "Project Runway". I first watched it near the end of season 2. I was instantly hooked. I couldn't believe how the designers made such beautiful stuff straight off a dress form...amazing. I love the hurried creative process and the weird constraints...love Tim Gunn...love the sketches the designers draw. And, as a girl that admitted in my last post that I'm afraid of my sewing machine, I'm in awe of the sewing skills it must take. Plus, it is one of the few shows on TV that makes me laugh out loud. My favorite designer this season is Sweet P. She makes pretty, simple dresses and I love that every thought she has shows on her face...no poker-faced designer that Sweet P.
I love that Project Runway has made it hip to sew again...you can see it everywhere on creative blogs with wardrobe refashions and sewing tutorials. Of course, it has also been an inspiration for my projects and led directly to me seeing sewing patterns as art...to be refashioned into anything I feel like creating.

I TOTALLY like Sweet P the best! I have seen every episode of this show and all seasons. It's the best thing to have on while I'm sewing!~~~XXOO, Beth

Oh!.. swoon.. makes me sad. We gave up extended cable last year so lost P.R. BUT!.. on the bright side we are now about 1 month from being totally debt free and one of our treats will be to put back the extended cable. Like you we really don't watch much since we are big *book* and *do* people but there are a few luxuries that I look forward to getting back in my life :)

Love PR!
Yes, Sweet P seems to design the closest to my style of clothing. I also like the girl who wears the overalls (i forget her name).
sigh...oh, how I wish I could sew clothing. One of these days I'm going to make myself sit down and learn!

I totally agree! There's nothing better than to be sewing away and watching Project Runway at the same time! That show inspires me to experiment and play way beyond my expertise. This week's masterpieces - wow! And yeah, I'd be Sweet P - with my mouth hanging and eyes wide open half the time! And I love Tim and his humour, the egos of the designers!

Sweet Pea is my favorite personality, but I see Jillian and Kit as better designers in general.
So...... have you spanked the heck out of that button hole attachment yet? ;)

I love PR too! I too am in awe of how they create from scratch. I have sewn a lot of garments in my day but always from a pattern. I don't know how they do it! xo, suzy

I've watched PR Season 2. Who can forget Santino's hilarious impressions of Tim Gunn? And Andre? This year's contestants are very talented. I rather like Sweet P, but I love Gillian's clothes. And Chris has to stay until the end because he just makes me smile. (Although whiny Christian can go home anytime.)
If Rami can do something other than draping, I bet he will go to the tents. This is my favorite season so far!

I love Project Runway too! I think I like Gillian the best, though, but Chris makes me giggle.

I watch Project Runway too, even watching reruns again and again. I never knew before I watched it the degree to which designers must be fabulous seamstresses-seamsters. It is fascinating, and I love to see the clothes. But before I read your posting on it, I had never thought of how it has helped encourage the revival of sewing, which I enthusiastically endorse, although I am just a beginner. Thank you!
