thrifty christmas

Img_1997_edited1When it comes to thrifting, I think the easiest things to find are Christmas items.  Since they were used only occasionally, even the oldest holiday goodies are well cared for and in excellent condition.  I found an entire bag of Shiny Brites yesterday for $1.21...I'm not that discriminating when it comes to vintage ornaments but you can tell Shiny Brites because their name is stamped on the top of the ornaments.   And I'm loving my new platter (the bells are the cutest).

Img_1954_edited1I wouldn't normally used the words "plastic" and "good" in the same sentence but the plastic wreath is a really good old one and is now hanging on my front door.  There's a box of Shiny Brites (see the $0.60 price?)...all sitting on three cool table runners.

Img_1955_edited1 ...and a cute house from a local ceramic artist.  It's really well made and painted very carefully.  My favorite part... the tire tracks in the snow in front of the garage.

Img_1959_edited1 ...and my very, very, most favorite item is a perfect vintage tablecloth.  It's one of those great heavy and soft linen tablecloths that I love and rarely find.  This is a close-up of the design...there are 8 ribbons like this running across it.  I found it at the "pink" thrift store...carefully pressed and hung on a hanger and labeled with a yarn-tied tag...$2.

Julie- As usual, I love ALL of your finds. You have THE best thrift stores. You are really making me want to run around the corner to the thrift store but what I should be doing is getting on the treadmill and working on my advent calendar. You're killin me here!

Where are your thrift stores?? What treasures. Our Salvation Army store just closed it's doors. I love the vintage ornaments. Reminds me of when I was little!!

I love the blue bottle brush trees!

Swoon my dear.... swoon!!

Maddie

Super nice score on the ornaments. I've not found anything good for Christmas in the thrifts this year. In fact, I've all but given up on thrifting. LOL

What lovely finds! That tablecloth is especially gorgeous... what a great steal! :D hehe!!

Your thrifty haul is Christmas-licious!

Love these! What great finds!

Merry Christmas, Julie!

Melissa

Wonderful finds, I especially love the tablecloth.

These are lovely finds! I'm stuck at home sick, but I would love to be out shopping!

I found a tablecloth just like that not long ago at the thrift store. It is a Vera (see her signature next to the berries). Mine is lightweight, 'tho, but still it is very rare to find any vintage tableclothes at the thrift stores where I live.
I wish I could find some Shiny Brites that were pretty - I did see some yesterday at the Salvation Army but they weren't that great & the color wasn't what I cared for. I'm lucky to have some from my mother & her mother before...those don't get hung on the tree at all!

Boy do I ever love all of the stuff you found!! But my absolute favorite is that platter! I have NEVER seen one like it. Now - maybe some day I will get really lucky and find find one like it! That is a special one! So cute.

I love this tablecloth!! If you want to sell it - let me know.
