happiness & disappointment
I got an email yesterday letting me know that the Rock and Roll Craft Show had some leftover inventory that was not available at the usual vendor pickup time after the show. Huh? I just found out this morning that the leftover inventory includes my altered train case...for some reason, it was never put on the sales floor (I have talked to the show organizer and it was simply a mistake). I don't mind at all that I did not sell it but what I do mind is that I told (gloated?) everyone here that I did sell it...and now I feel like a complete and total idiot. I don't get upset that easily but this has truly upset me. The thing is, I craft for the pure joy of it...if I wanted to make money, I'd go back to work as an engineer. So...once I get over the disappointment and embarrassment I feel, I may list the case in my etsy shop.
On to some calming pictures from my house...
I think these pretty little vintage ornaments look like lemons. I put them a robin's egg blue planter that I thrifted and placed them on my favorite piece of hammered aluminum that sits on my dining room table. The tray is my favorite because it has a "j" engraved in the middle of it.
I have no idea if these guys are the three wise men but at the time I bought them (at our church garage sale), I thought they were and put them on top of the cabinet in our computer room last Christmas. Like an annoying neighbor that never takes their Christmas lights down, I have kept these guys out all year. They seem like they fit into the painting placed behind them.
Deep breath...OK, I'm starting to calm down a little.

I'm adding your little altered suitcase to my Christmas list right now! And that bowl of lemon ornaments is perfect for this time of year. How serene. Wishing you lots of fun and creativity all through this month. ANd into the New Year too!

Well, you have every reason to be upset. That was your showpiece and well...it didn't "show." I would be more sad than embarassed over that. BUT - look at it from your fans' perspective: now *we* all have a shot at it! :) That's a good thing for us!
Sometimes, you just don't know what was meant to be...

Your case was meant to be in another loving persons arms!!!
The three kings DO look like they belong with the picture. I don't think you could have made it that way. WooHoo for garage sales!!

Do not EVEN be embarrassed! I'm sure, had it been displayed as INTENDED (damn show people), it WOULD have been sold.
I agree with prior posters...was not meant to be with those shoppers. ;)

Hey, no worries. The case will sell on Etsy (hopefully to me), no problem.

Embarrassed?! Don't be! I agree with the others; had it been shown, it would have sold. It is a gorgeous case and it will sell. In fact, it looks like you've already made several readers a little giddy at the thought that THEY could possibly own it.
And I love your ornament display...

Julie, why is it that we easily embarrass over things that are not even our fault and get caught up in thinking that others will think less of us. I do that. Anyway, I am so sorry that the mistake was made in not setting it out which took some bloom off your excitment of creating it. You told us what you thought ws the truth and now were brave enough to follow up with what you found out happened. I hope you are able to shrug it right off and have a happy rest of your day! Kelly

Don't feel bad, the altered case will be snapped up, and lucky us for getting the opportunity to snap it up. You'll need to make more to satisfy demand I think you'll find.
People make mistakes, put this one behind you. BTW you weren't gloating, I love seeing what you've made and you've every right to be proud of what you create.

Oh my! You definitely shouldn't be embarrassed -- it was totally out of your control. And it's such a clever train case anyway -- how fun that you will now get to sell it in your very own shop!

Don't you dare feel embarrassed. This was not your fault, how could you know it wasn't sold. I am guessing that if you put it in your Etsy Shop it will go.

My dear, it was not a gloat... it was excitment that somebody was going to make room in their home for part of your heart. It's not that nobody wanted it, it was that it was never given a chance. Never fear putting your heart in your work and never be ashamed of it. It's the reason your art glows.. it's the bit of you in each piece.

I'm so sorry about your train case incident.
I love those lemony ornaments in the blue planter--it's gorgeous.
The beautiful figures are wonderful as the three wise men. I'm not an expert but they look like they may be knights from the crusades.

Oh my!! Don't feel embarrassed at all! It happens to all of us all the time... goodness knows I've had my share of embarrassing moments lately (just had one today... eeep!). :p And I'm sure the little case will be snapped up the minute its put in your Etsy shop anyway... it is such a charming piece!! :)
Hope you're having a lovely evening!

Oh, that's too bad Julie! I know it must have been very disappointing. I LOVE your 3 kinds and wouldn't be able to part with them come January either.

Oh bother. Let it go! I think you could easily sell 50 of them in your etsy shop!
