vintage cinderella
You may have seen this Cinderella book a few times on my blog...the notecards and the lunch tin purse. The only thing left from the book was a few scraps and the covers but I saved it for "something". When I discovered the whole eyelets-through-book-cover idea, I couldn't wait to try it on this book cover. I love this version of Cinderella...what happened to her? The colors (and print quality) in this book are amazing and the cover is the same way...muted and so pretty.
Since this is a "big" golden book (about 9x13), I used large eyelets at the top and then tied it with the a brown-edged nylon ribbon (martha stewart at michaels) and added a few pretty buttons. This hanging would look great anywhere but would be so cool hanging on a door. It's in my etsy shop for any of you that are Cinderella fans like me. Does anyone remember the made-for-TV Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella? LOVED that!..."in my own little corner, in my own little chair..."

adorable!!!

My three year old is in a HUGE Cinderella phase (thanks in part to the merchandise frenzy). But I have to say that I think she truly adores the story itself. I've had fun watching it with her several times. Such a classic. As is the book cover you discovered. Love it!

do you ever scan the images before you take a book apart?

I love the artwork in that Cinderella book, too. She is so beautiful. And I loved Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella. I was so excited a couple of years when they showed on PBS the first version with Julie Andrews as Cinderella. I even liked the one with Brandy. But the Lesley Ann Warren one is the one I grew up with. Gotta love the music- It's Possible/Impossible and Ten Minutes Ago. I love it all- and your hanging picture is fabulous!!

I had a larger version of that book and I remember being terrified of the 'witch' page.
I loved Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella and waited for it's once a year scheduling on television. I tell my kids this and they think I am ancient ( before VCR's)! I can still sing those songs.
Wait, should I have admitted that?

I loved the Rodger's and Hammerstein's Cinderella and could not wait to watch it every year (there were no DVDs then). I had the same book and seeing it again brought back such good memories. Thank you. I like your site.

It looks great and I love how you've used every bit of the book to make your lovely projects.

I was (am) such a huge fan of that movie! I watched it over and over, and still sometimes my dad will randomly belt out the "Do I love you becasue you're beautiful..." chorus! I guess my poor family memorized the whole thing along with me.

I am laughing now because my husband and I always sing from this movie. When one of us says "well, it's possible"- my first reactions is to sing "...for a plain yellow pumpkin to become a golden carraige...". Thanks for the smile! :)
