anthropologie philosophy

Img_1809_edited1I love Anthropologie...it's like walking into a killer estate sale (with much, much higher prices).  It's a little shocking for a thrifty girl like me to find a cute cocktail glass and see that it's $8.00 instead of my usual $0.80.  Despite the sticker shock, I've come to the conclusion that, for me, Anthropologie is like a "cheater's" thrift store....all of the cute stuff without the junk, smelliness, and other general unpleasantries.  But, sometimes I'm a big cheater.  My Mom gave me a gift certificate for Christmas last year and I recently found this apron.  It has a cute vintage-y orange fabric for the neck and apron strings.  And it's really, really soft and worn...like it's not brand new.

Img_1805_edited1Last year at Thanksgiving, I grabbed a bunch of aprons and brought them so all of the girls had an apron to wear while cooking.  When I found the cool orange and brown fabric this summer I thought I'd make a new one for me for this Thanksgiving.

This weekend my husband and I and our couple friends are going to Santa Barbara, Ca. My friend and I always go into Anthropology. During the Summer the shelves were unusually empty. So maybe this weekend they will be stocked up!! Love the store! And, nice apron fabric for the Fall!!

I love that apron and I'm finding myself more and more obsessed with Anthropologie. I figure if we save enough money shopping garage sales and thrift shops then we can occasionally splurge on something expensive!

I struggle with Anthropologie. I have such a deep rooted love for the store but mixed in with a bitterness that the prices are just higher than my comfort zone. Even an $8.00 glass is pretty reasonable compared to the .80 cents thrifted glass. But if you compare a $25 new skirt to a new Anthropology skirt for $188.00 it just seems like too much for this thrift girl. I live for their sales rack though when I can still feel thrifty and walk out with a posh bag full of $15.00 skirts and blouses.

Ha! I love Anthropologie too, but also am in shock sometimes when I look at the price tag. But I do love their little cabinet pulls and smaller items, and especially the sales racks! I am all for finding things in clean and charming surroundings though, so I guess you have to pay a bit more for that!

Love your blog - have just discovered it.

Cant wait to see it! Im glad I dont what im missing-we dont have those nice stores here!
