friendly village

ChinacabI'm a Fall girl...the colors, the change in the weather, football, my birthday.   And, of course, 3 ft. tall bags of kettle corn, pumpkin spice lattes, caramel apples (or, even easier, a piece of caramel and a bite of apple).

When I registered for wedding gifts so many years ago, I skipped over the china and went straight for the ironstone....combining Johnson Brothers Friendly Village and Rose Chintz.  I still love it.   The Friendly Village pattern is a Fall classic...and like all of those other Fall goodies, I don't think I will ever get tired of it.

I'm a spring girl and tend to mourn the coming of cooler weather. But once I give in and realize summer is gone then I embrace fall warmly. I love the holidays, our woodstove, warm apple cider and all the delicious foods of fall. Love your dishes.

oh you made want a carmel apple just then. i had one this weekend at the fair and felt so seasonally nostalgic.

I'm a fall lover as well! I am constantly asking Starbucks when they are getting their pumpkin spice syrup in for frapps. MMM. I was at a farm this weekend, and they were selling caramel apple "petals"-- apple slices each dipped in caramel. The perfect caramel to apple ratio. Love your dishes. Very versatile but fall-ish all at the same time.

I have been a fan of Johnson Brothers ironstone since I got married as well. I still have the blue willow and the red and white transferware, Historic America.

I don't think I have ever seen one of their patterns I didn't like. And the rose chintz? One of my favourites as well.

Excellent choices, Jane.

I'm a summer person myself but Halloween is my favorite celebration. I guess this makes me a contradictory person. Oh well.

Anyway, I think it's great that you know what makes you happy. Your ironstone patterns are lovely.

Lovely cards in your previous post. You have talent! I love fall too. I thought you say autumn in America...

Love your cabinet! And the things you love about fall. How wonderful for you that you knew what you like back then. I registered for black china with cala lillies on it the first time around. Does that sound anything like me now?!

Love your blog!!! One of my favorites!! My favorite dishes are by Mikasa, French Countryside, every day white. Great on a fab vintage tablecloth!

Ah, Friendly Village is Thanksgiving at my mom's house! I love getting it out and setting the table with her...

I love the Friendly Village pattern, too. My grandmother faithfully collected many, many pieces and I inherited them via an aunt who didn't care for them. Her loss!

I've had a lot of fun peeking around in your blog today. I'll be back again some day.
