paper apron

Img_0896_edited1I had an idea to take one of my sewing pattern girls and add an apron...you know, to cover her pretty dress while she's cooking (giggle...).

I guess I can call this a "mixed media" collage.  It's an 8x10 canvas board that I covered with paper and then added sewing pattern tissue on the left side.  I painted the sewing pattern tissue with a little robin's egg paint to "soften" the black text of the sewing pattern tissue.

For the apron, I used tracing paper to design an apron to fit over the dress.  To make the apron look "real", I cut it out in three pieces...one for the apron, one for the pretty tie, and one for the pocket.  I used an olive colored pencil to give shadow and dimension to the apron.

Although I don't exactly know how I'm going to do it yet, I'd like to make a few more collages in this "apron" theme and then have them printed...and use them to made cards (still handcrafted in some way) and maybe a set of cute postcards.  I also would love to have prints made to frame...I put this one in my kitchen and it looks really cute.

I'm loving this! So cute! And, I've been doing some postcards research too, and overnightprints.com has pretty good deals on postcards (and they do the rounded corner ones that I think look so spiffy!) I haven't used them yet, but I've heard good things!

How creative!!! Very sweet, I love aprons!

That's really cute! I bet it looks adorable in your kitchen.

That looks great - can't even tell that you added the apron - reminds me of paper dolls.

This is soooo flippin' cute! I got an entire box of patterns from a woman named Lorna, as by the mailorder address, a couple of weeks ago. They start from the thirties and go to the sixties. This is such a wonderful way to make use of those patterns that are damaged. Very Fun!!!

Oh, I love this! I'm sure it looks fabulous in your kitchen. How perfect!

Genius! you are so creative & inspiring!
